So, I actually canceled the deal with the Primavera in a box... And, instead, I now have a 50 Special with a Primavera motor in it! It doesn't run, at the moment... But, when it does, I can assure you that it will be very fast!
It's a 1981 50 Special from Europe, which can be noted by its square headlight... It's one of only four Vespas without a round headlight, and only two of those were available in the US. This is not one of those bikes. Rare, and awesome!
Actually, the horncast/"Thing on the front" is from the wrong bike, but I can pick up the right one for $15. Then, it'll be super-sweet!
It says "50 Special", but it has a 125 engine in it... I want to steal the badge off a "Super" and call it my 125 Super Special.
Comparison with the GTS... People don't believe me that the GTS is huge, nor do they understand what I mean when I say that the Special is a "Smallframe"... The angle here doesn't do it justice, but it's at least a 6-inch difference in length.
Probably at least 4 inches shorter on the headlight and seat, too. I can stand with my feet flat on the ground when the Special is on the center stand - I have to stand on my tip-toes with the GTS flat on the ground!
This one is a really good angle. The rear wheels of both bikes are lined up, and the shot is from straight-on, and you can see that the Special is totally hidden by the GTS... It's also twice the weight.
The GTS will always have it beat on top-speed, but when I get it running, the Special will outrun everything off the light! Well, hopefully. One day...! For now, I'm happy just to look at it. <3
