Well, moggie had 5 kittens. She is very very proud and hasn't stopped purring. There is a minor issue in that she doesn't like leaving them, even to get something to eat. Oh well. She doesn't mind me picking them up, and only worries when they start to grizzle. No. 1 is approx. as wide as long; no. 2 climbs all over her; no. 3 is rather quiet ( Read more... )

I only discovered this recently, but apparently only female cats can have three colours in their coats, so 3 and 4 are definitely girls. You may have known this before, but I haven't done biology since pre-standard grade and thought it was very interesting when I found out.

I knew that a tortoiseshell cat - ie, orange with brown, or black, or either of those and white - was always female, but didn't know the three-coat-colour thing! I'd had a wee look, but things are too small to determine gender!

It is interesting, these things. Like white cats with blue eyes will very often be deaf. If they are wall-eyed, they'll be deaf in the same ear.
