Starting with this screen cap from here I open it in PaintshopPro 8 and crop an area I like to a square.

After resizing to 100x100 we get this:


Without sharpening I open up my first curves layer:


Then another:

I now merge all layers and apply this as a new layer:


Set the top layer to screen:


And add text (Mistral):
