I hate it when I finish reading a book, and all I want to do is discuss it with someone else, but no one else has read it (or has read it recently enough ( Read more... )

I've read A Prayer for Own Meany! I rather liked it and it gave me a push to read The World According to Garp, which I liked even more than Owen Meany.

I liked it too, and Garp is definitely on my list. I had a few issues with the book: I thought Dan's character was flat (even though I liked him), I thought more background could have been devoted to the Meanys in general. The whole plot with Hester was fascinating to me.

i think what you are describing is a book club ;)

but yes, a book club that only reads books that you read. hm.

LOL, yes ... a book club that only reads what I want and where I get to lead all of the discussions. Hooray! Now to make this happen.

Actually, a few of my friends and I are considering starting or joining a book club. I am getting used to the idea of chick lit now. Who knows, maybe I'll love it!
