Man, you should totally leave Fugu preparations to the professionals...
No seriously, what was it, undercooked chicken?
Reminds me of the time I ate two green tomatoes, then read about nightshade toxins, then paranoiacally smoked tobacco hoping the nicotine would counteract the (mild) nightshade toxins in raw green tomatoes.
(interestingly tobacco is also a nightshade plant -- and nicotine has opposing effects to many of the toxins found in other plants of that family i.e. deadly nightshade, green potatoes (dangerous -- don't eat these), green tomatoes (probably not as dangerous as I thought they were) etc)
Pork and shrimp shu mai. The pork was certainly raw, the shrimp may have been. That first one was delicious though. Mmm, raw meat. I'm more concerned about the shrimp than the pork.
Oh, a side note related to your smoking. My complex has gone entirely no smoking, but since I signed my lease JUST before that, if you crash here again you are still allowed to smoke on my deck and such.
IMLO gag reflex by recall requires one actually have had the experience that one recalls to get the gag reflex. Simply describing something gross is not the same as describing something gross which has made one (nearly) gag in the past.
With a toothbrush handle, according to the winners in the pro-ana communities. ;) Anyway, I applaud your ability to actually go through with inducing vomiting. I would have been stuck married to the toilet if that happened to me.
I would've figured "Just cause raw pork is dangerous doesn't mean a given piece of raw pork has a high probability of being bad, its just that one shouldn't eat it regularly"
Then I would've been surprised when I got food poisoning ;)
(I have had fairly rare pork before with no ill effects, fwiw)
