just not specifically what is categorized as mental retardation.

Well, I don't know enough about neurological disorders to know if that's actually true or not.

But, personally, autism is especially interesting to me because for the under-developed part of the brain (usually the part that deals with social skills) there's an acompanying over-developed section (besides the heightened sensory perception) of the brain. So, they kind of have super-human powers but, again, something that would just be annoying to you or me is crippling to them for that very reason. It just reminds me of comic books. That and I relate to the social-retardation.

i actually used to know quite a lot about neurological disorders. i was really into when i was trying to figure out how to overcome my ADD. Read a lot and watched a crapton of Discovery channel. Now that I've mastered it pretty good, my brain is pretty much dogshit for the knowledge I used to have on the subject. If any of this is tattered, I apologize. I swear it's at least close
