Kay guys, I'm leaving for Rome tomorrow morning so I won't be online for about two weeks (!)

Man, my parents are always like this. They're like "Nah, we'll figure something out" every time I ask them what our plans are for the holidays. So I though, hey, if we're going it won't be a long trip, right, maybe to Belgium for a few days? WRONG.

This can never go well )

holiday, books, whinewhinewhine, family

Have a great trip! I know what you mean about traveling with far-too-spontaneous people, but I hope it will be fun! And, hey, Rome!

Harry himself is okay, though he's kinda dumb sometimes, and often sexist. I'm guessing a lot of that is done on purpose, by Butcher, but I bet that a lot of it isn't done on purpose, which is a shame

Yeah, I think that's probably the case... Which is annoying. But I still love the series, overall.

I think I read that Assassings of Tamurin book, but I remember NOTHING from it. Maybe I didn't finish? I do remember having the same thought as you re: pseudo-China.

I need to read some Mieville one of these days. I've heard some great things about his stuff, but also things that make me suspect I won't like it, so I'm kinda torn...

Some things I didn't enjoy about Mieville, but at least it was quite original.

Thank you! :D

Such a long time to be without you!

Well, have fun. Have you been to Rome before? I went with my mom once...we tried to do touristy stuff, but it's not really our style so we spent a lot of time sitting at cafes drinking wine and writing in notebooks. It was fun, if not a little cliche. :)

Haha, never been to Rome before, never even to Italy with my parents (went with my orchestra to Florence) so this'll be a new experience. Thanks! :D

Wellll, it *is* boiling hot here :\ But at least Rome isn't as humid as Veneto XD so perhaps it's best if you go south, even if it might sound nonsensical. I'm sure you'll have fun anyway! Sometimes the touristy thing is the thing to do, just PLEASE avoid cafes/bars/restaurants in the main touristic spots, they tend to be awfully expensive and it just isn't worth it.

Too bad you aren't coming to Venice though, I would have loved to meet and buy you a coffee or a spritz! :[

Haha, I finally have internet here so here's my reply.

It's not humid but it sure is hot as hell here (and everyone is super tanned here. I decided to go for factor 20 sunscreen instead, I don't want to get burned). Everyone just kinda slinks away around 1 o'clock to cooler places until about 4 o'clock, which my parents also decided to do, thank god.

We're having fun, only the killer mosquitoes are something else, yeesh. :/

Aw, haha, that's sweet. Maybe next time, my mum has her eyes set on Italy.
