I just received the news that I'm getting a show on WRVU - Vanderbilt's student radio station. I didn't think I would get a show, there was a lot of competition. But I know some people (bada-bing bada-boom), and I landed the plum timeslot of... 12am to 2am on Tuesday mornings ( Read more... )

What the hell is a "radio?"

Play "She Blinded Me with Science" every week.

I can't play that song - it's still too real for me.

Maybe in a few years, if my vision recovers...

I think my favorite radio show concept from Swarthmore's radio was these two girls who did their show naked. I never listened to it, so I'm not sure what they played/talked about, but really, if you're naked, does it matter?

There is a camera in the studio, probably to discourage (encourage?) precisely this sort of behavior.

I think you should have a weekly contest.
Bring a sandwich and have listeners try to
guess the type from the chewing sound alone.

Extra points for condiments, bread, types of
meat etc.

Damn, I love this idea. Unfortunately, WRVU has a strict rule about no food in the studio. Maybe if I pre-record it...

Funny story about Sgt. Pepper: Fred Armisen, from SNL, came to Nashville and did a show. One of his characters was "Saddam Hussein," who was just like Saddam except that he had a guitar and talked like Pete Townsend.

He took questions from the crowd and I asked, "What's your favorite Beatles album?" He replied, "Eh, it's not Sgt. Pepper. I know everyone always says Sgt. Pepper but I think it's a little show-tuney, y'know?"

Maybe not so funny out of context, but oh well. It was a great show.

My first ideas are Beatles related, but that's what you get for putting the Beatles in my head with that 1/4 speed HDN thing ( ... )

Nathan, I love you. In a Jesus kind of way. I'll try to use all of these ideas.
