Ron ambled down the stairs letting out a deep yawn. The house was eerily quiet. It took him a minute to realize why. They were at Hermione’s parents’ place so that their kids could spend some time with her parents. The reason as to why it was so quite was because today was the day they had planned on taking the kids out. Hermione had tried to wake him up earlier but had given up in frustration. So he was all alone…in a Muggle house.

He walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. There was what Hermione said was a TV opposite him. There was also a strange thin object on the table in front of the couch. He tried to remember what Hermione had told him it was. A laptop? No, that doesn’t sound right. A toplap? No…

Ron reached over and picked up the laptop. On it was written the words “Dell”. He wondered why “Dell” was written on the strange device, since that was neither Hermione’s mother’s nor father’s name. He flipped it around trying to see how this device was to be used. There was a latch of some can so Ron moved it and out fell the battery. He quickly looked around guilty before remembering that no one else was in the house. He then quickly picked up the battery while wondering if it was important somehow because it could very well be or it could very well be not.

He tried to figure out how to put it back into the device but couldn’t. He started to wonder if he had broken it which would not be a very good thing because he did remember that Hermione said that they could be expensive, especially apples. He didn’t understand what apples had to do with this strange device and didn’t see how they could be expensive. They were just apples and very easy to find. He decided to place the laptop and battery back on the table and have Hermione look at it before her parents saw. That seemed like a good idea.

He then moved his attention to the TV. Hermione said that it showed moving pictures but it was currently not doing so. He wondered if it only showed the pictures at certain times or if it had run out of electricity which his dad had said is what Muggle stuff ran on.
The TV no longer providing him with any interest, and plus his stomach was begging for attention, he stood up and made his way to the kitchen. At that instant a loud ringing noise broke out from the kitchen. Startled, Ron reached for his wand before remembering that they had left it at their house because while Hermione’s parents knew magic existed Hermione said that they shouldn’t do magic around them.

He slowly inched to the kitchen and once he had entered it he felt a little silly. It was just the fellytone. Hermione had said that whenever it rang it meant someone was calling you. Ron wasn’t sure if he should answer it since it probably was for her parents but he didn’t know if there was someone the fellytone would record who had called it (he vaguely remembered Hermione saying something about what happened if you couldn’t or didn’t answer but what exactly she said was lost). He decided to not answer the phone because it was most definitely not for him, and besides he wasn’t sure how to use it anyways. Thus he made a beeline for the fridge to find something to eat.

Meanwhile, Hermione was growing ever more frustrated as she used her mother’s cell phone to call the house and see if Ron was awake. She had told him that if he wouldn’t wake up she would call the home and let them know where they were so he could meet up with them.
