Weird combo, right? Yeah, well I've been reading some Murakami, and I'm liking it! Read After Dark yesterday and started Norwegian Wood today, it's interesting

I love Murakami! After Dark was pretty good, but my favorite is still Kafka on the Shore. I haven't read Norwegian Wood yet, but I've been told it's really good. I'm currently reading Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, it's pretty good too!
Cool! Actually the reason I'm reading Murakami is because it's for a class, and I was originally supposed to read Kafka on the shore, but I ended up not being able to pick it up, and thus got the story spoiled for me.
But I have to be honest when I say that I feel like the plot in Kafka really wouldn't have interested me, both After Dark and Norwegian Wood really draws me in. But idk, maybe I'll read Kafka, but I'll probably read a lot of his other books first^^ I don't mean to diss your favourite book or anything^^ What is it about Kafka you really like?
I loved After Dark, but I have an affinity for mysterious and melancholy settings, especially at night!
I get that you aren't dissing it~ everyone has different tastes! I think I like it a lot because of the two story lines. They're completely different, yet Murakami manages to tie them in together. I thought the plots were pretty interesting as well, and there was a good bit of action that kept it moving along smoothly. And I really liked the characters as well!
I kind of wish that After Dark was longer, since I did really like it, but I think that would've ruined the story too.
Hah, yeah, it's nice to have to read books for classes^^ You get to experience a good deal of new literature that way^^
Yeah, I agree with what you say about liking the characters, I'm reading Norwegian Wood now, and I really, really like the characters a lot!
I know what you mean about After Dark, I kinda wish it was longer too, but I recognize that it's supposed to be kinda halfway, you only get these, 8 hours, and then you're done, but still, I 'd like to know if Mari and Takahashi ever got together, or if Shirakawa ever got his ass kicked by that chinese mafiadude, which he totally deserves!!
I'm really looking forward to it! But I am going to try and take some pictures that I'm going to post on my journal, so maybe that can help a little? :D
