It's been a while since I've updated since I have had no means of communicating with the world outside of Japan prior to getting my ID at the university today. So, incase there are people out there that care about whether or not I'm still here: yeah, still here ( Read more... )

hey, did you already apply for the alien registration card? When you apply they give you a receipt, its a large blue sheet with your alien registration number on it and it serves as your proof of residence until the card comes. As for a bank account, you will need that as well, so if you haven't gone request two copies. Me and Kate were able to open bank accounts and cell phones about a day or two ago. You just need that alien registration receipt, your national health insurance card, your student ID card, and money. IM me over aim and I will give you the number, until then you can reach my cell phone via mail at

tokyoincident@ezweb.ne.jp

kate hasn't changed her email yet, but lex is mayoikonda at the same address. We all got AU. Pretty cheap, like maybe 1900 a month.

Yeah, I know how it works and everything. However, Tokyo is much less strict than Kyoto so I can't get any of those things without the hard copy of the Alien Registration Card. No cell, no internet. I can only get the health coverage and the bank account with the temp card. ;)

Once I have a cell, things will be even better. My friend Yamamoto and I are going to try to get the cell phone place to give me my card with only the temp card. It should be easy because I'll be with him, he says. (:

I'll shoot you an e-mail once I get my phone!

BTW, be careful with that 1900YEN plan. It can end up costing you more than the 3000YEN plan if you go over minutes. That's what my friend Deigo and other students have been warning me about. I'm going AU, too because of the student discount. :D

yeah, we don't use it to phone, we use tons of mail.

I was telling someone today about how if you like guys you would be my future husband XD

Shinjuku is pretty interesting. Everyone thinks your a tourist so you can get some real snobs. I get refused tissue on the street every now and then and then I say bad things in english

oh man thats so petty. today I went to a cake shop and when I asked which cake the woman could suggest she was so happy I asked she just spat out rainbow and butterflies. It made me remember why I love Japan, XD.

I am very happy to hear this good news from you! I told ya you'd probably make friends quickly! =D So since your computer access is limited, I assume that means you can't take advantage of Skype yet? I currently don't have a microphone to talk into, but I'm just wondering.

Kansai Gaidai's lab computers were slow as mollasses as well, especially when there were a lot of people in the lab....which was always.

I'll write you some emails for sure!

Oh, which address would you prefer I send mail to? Your UMASS one or your charter.net one?

Either or! They all go to the same inbox. (:

Nope. No Skype yet. Not for at least a month. You have a month to get a microphone. xD

Yeah, these PCs suck. It's not the internet that's slow but the actual PCs. They're... ancient-looking. :O
