Alright, so this lunch I had a very goo discussion with Justin, Natalie, and Rachel about oil, the planet's future, garbage, and other stuff too. The thing that we disagreed on most and peaked my interest the most was the garbage issue. I'm gonna try to give both sides as objectively as possible. Justin and I felt that, once it became ( Read more... )

WORD to Colin, because I dunno how I can hammer it into your guys' heads just how BIG space is. Maybe you guys haven't seen enough Star Trek, but we're talking billions and billions of LIGHTYEARS, a distance one can't even really fathom ( ... )

I'm gonna have to go with becca to counter you on that. This is exactly the same naive, egotistical attitude that created the dust bowl and has caused much of the world's pollution over the past two centuries. I think we may find in the future that it will just "nip us in the rear" as becca put it.

Marty, its SPACE. You guys really dont get this, do you? It is SO big. We would never, and i mean NEVER, see ANYTHING we sent out there. It is not the same attitude that created the dust bowl. Space IS a dust bowl. There is NOTHING there to ruin.

Well yah, in all likelihood we'd not ever see anything we sent out there again... but i mean, basically, you and sam are taking the same attitude that has (as becca and marty pointed out) gotten us into a lot of trouble in the past. I mean, like, a bunch of people came over to America and were like "jesus fucking christ, these trees are everywhere. i mean there are sooo many trees...wow, if i cut down some trees and built a house it totally wouldn't matter because these trees just never end." and now we have like zero forests compared to how many there once were. yah yah yah, i know i know i know, space is freaking massive and endless and all that compared to America, but you get what I'm saying.

I mean, "there is NOTHING there to ruin" ?!? I swear we don't know everything that's out there...right? i mean, you don't really know?

i'm not being coherent or articulate at all and am just a waste of time and space. blech.
