we've been thinking about joining our local csa, but keep worrying that things will go to waste. one good thing i've seen about ours is that they give you a list when you first sign up to indicate foods you don't like/are allergic to so they won't be included if they're on the list that week.
Veggies and fruits here are so expensive. I have paid $1.75 for a single red bell pepper before. Limes are between $1.00 and $2.00 each. A cheap bag of 6 or 7 oranges runs about $6.00.
red bells are pretty expensive in the states too though (maybe not THAT expensive). but limes, wow! that is a LOT!
i have noticed that food as a whole is more expensive out here in the northwest than it was back in houston or the midwest. though i guess in general, the cost of living is higher (but so is the pay).
oh, to add, the cost of the csa share i have is about $400 for the season, which works out to $22 per week for my size share. to me it's worth it, but i could buy the non-organic versions of the food in the store for less (but not that much less).
