On Tuesday evening I was lucky enough to secure a ticket to a talk on collecting photography by David Hurn at Magnum’s London office. He’s a wonderfully inspirational person to listen to and I was really looking forward to hearing him again.

What are you doing here?
Here’s a madly obsessive but strangely compelling piece of film. Put simply, it’s a compendium of all of the instances of the phrase, “What are you doing here?" cropping up in Doctor Who.
Apparently the film took seven months to make. Six to watch all the episodes and one to edit it all together.
Watch it. You know it makes sense.*

Conjunctivitis Again...
I have conjunctivitis in my left eye again* today and I am not happy about this. < grumpy look >
*A few years ago I was told by a doctor that my left eye has a slightly smaller tear duct than my right and that this was why, when I’m tired, stressed and a bit run down I frequently get a small infection. < sigh >

Bicentennial Man/Joke...
I watched Bicentennial Man last night.
There are those that have criticised the movie off as a bit lacklustre, and wooden, but I like it. I think in certain places there are preludes to Steven Spielberg’s movie AI. New Windoze™ Advertisments...
I’m a Mac user because although, ultimately, computers all do pretty similar things, with a Mac you can do stuff more easily, more creatively and with much less hassle. Add into this equation the fact that there are no viruses, (at all) for the Mac, less crashes and that the interface makes Windoze™ look like an cheap abacus and, well, the choice ( Read more... ) -
A Polar Whale's Appeal...
I've just seen a bit of film on YouTube which is fairly stunning. Basically it's some film of some whales swimming near a boat, and when I say near, I mean really, really close. Font Conference Film...
Here's a pretty amusing film, if you're having a slow Saturday. I guess it's going to be appreciated most by graphic designers, typographers and font geeks, but I do think most people will find it quite humorous.
I'm not quite sure what this says about me, (both as a person and as a designer < grins >) but I think Century Gothic is kinda hot ( Read more... )
