Title: The Sound of Settling
Prompt: WC50: rain, 038. Gen | IC50: 045. Together
Summary: In which twins meeting for the first time in fourteen years act more like the way I thought they should twins meeting for the first time in fourteen years.
Miss Greythorne walked up the steps, and with her came a boy. His hair was a bit long, and his cheeks a bit thin, but still Will felt an eerie, unfamiliar stirring in the pit of his stomach as he looked at the face of Tom Stanton for the first time in almost fourteen years.
They circled each other slowly, warily, until Tom reached out and touched Will's face. His fingertips trailed over Will's forehead and down his nose, onto his cheeks where they encountered tears. Tom began to pull back, marveling at the wetness, but Will impulsively reached up and grabbed his twin's hand. They stared for what seemed like a long, long time. Then Will's lips began to lift, and Tom's matched his, identical grin for identical grin.
"There's some people I want you to meet," Will said, and they walked out into the rain, together.
Notes: Written in an attempt to exorcise the demons that the movie left in me. Didn't totally work. Expect something tomorrow in which Miss Greythorne pushes Merriman into that pool of water thingie where Merriman can just drown for all I care to finish the job.
Now off to actually read the book, and hopefully fully forget that the movie ever existed. Whee.
