When it rains, New York City becomes a dank, drippy, moist cesspool of disgustingness.
Yeah, Danny Messer hates the rain. So what?
So, the day's weather sucks. And what sucks even more was that earlier in the day, someone had found some corpse rotting away next to some overflowing dumpsters that smell like a motherfuck - and so does the victim - he's obviously been here for a while - and water is constantly dripping down the back of his neck - which is obviously why no one has bothered to go down this godforsaken alley for such a long time in the first place - at least then the vic'd've smelled better, and maybe Danny wouldn't be having such a bad day, and -
And now Flack is standing at the end of the alley, umbrella - umbrella! - in his hand.
"Sorry I didn't get here sooner, traffic was a -" His nose crinkles. "What is that smell?"
"Welcome to my life," Danny mutters, very carefully not touching himself with his really, really nasty gloves. "The body's been released; wanna check it for ID?"
"Not really," Flack says, eyeing the body with distate, but he passes his umbrella to Danny and reaches into the vic's pockets.
"Not even a wallet," he sighs, rocking back on his heels. His hair is getting darker as it gets wet, sticking to his forehead and making his blue eyes seem more intense by comparison. Danny feels faintly ridiculous for noticing. "How long do you think he's been here?" he asks.
"Long enough," Danny replies. He wipes his nose on his sleeve - which really doesn't help anyways, his nose is still dripping - "bit less than a week, I'd say."
Flack grimaces, and stands. "I'll go speak to the business owners." He looks around and sniffs. "Doubtful they'll remember anything now ..."
Flack is gone before Danny realizes he's left his umbrella. It was pretty much a useless gesture, since Danny can't exactly hold an umbrella and collect evidence at the same time - which, by the way, has basically all washed away already, thanks to the RAIN - and he is already soaked, but.
But he feels a little bit better now. Even if it is still raining.
Notes: Yay for Danny. And Flack. :)?
