Title: Like sunshine after rain
Prompt: WC50: rain, 009. Character Study; 7snogs #3 - Embrace
Summary: Peter thinks that never returning to Narnia means leaving everything behind. Lucy isn't so sure. Peter/Lucy

Returning home for the summer holidays, the train was so crowded that the Pevensies didn't get a compartment all to themselves. To make more room, Peter had moved all their luggage to the racks above the seats and pulled Lucy onto his lap. "You're getting too big for this, now," he'd said, grinning, but she was glad that she wasn't quite that big yet. She sat there now, head resting back on her brother's shoulder. She watched the rain out of the compartment window as Peter read his book over her shoulder. She played with his shirtsleeve absentmindedly, trying not to block his view of the book resting on her lap.

Peter looked up. Susan was dozing against the windowframe and Edmund was absorbed in a card game with the other boys sharing their compartment. "Lu," he said. He took one of her hands and laid it palm to palm with his. Her hands were so much smaller than his.

She slid her palm up and twined their fingers together. "I'm going to miss this," Peter said quietly, watching their hands. Lucy tugged his other arm across her stomach, and he held it there tightly, hugging her from behind. "You don't have to give it up," she replied just as softly, a hint of pain at the edge of her voice.

He pressed a kiss to her cheek and then laid his face against her neck. Lucy rubbed the arm resting against her stomach with her free hand and sighed.

Susan still drowsed, Edmund watched them from the corner of his eye, and the boys sharing the compartment didn't notice a thing.
