SNOWBOARDING DAY @ MT. ST. LOUIS MOONSTONE

Feb 03, 2007 22:22

today was such an awesome day.. fun experience.

this morning i woke up bright and early at 7am but no one that i needed to talk to was online so i went back to bed until about 8am. there was a possibility of cancelling the event due to snowsquall (sudden snowstorm in a certain area with high winds, like a blizzard) warnings up in the barrie area. eventually it was a GO.. so thank goodness for that! called harris at around 8:50am to make sure he was awake.. but he was already on his way. =) he got to my house and we waited a bit for peter's phone call (i asked him to call me once he picked up dileshni). the whole time he was giving coby the attention she was begging for haha.. it was so cute. finally, peter called and they eventually found their way to my house. packed our bags in the car and went to shoppers drug mart to pick up some stuff. we were on highway 7 when i realized i had left my ski gloves on the stairs back at home, but thankfully i also packed my wool gloves, although i knew they wouldnt be warm at all, especially once they get wet from the snow.

after that we were on our way to highway 400! met up with the other ppl (2 other cars full of ppl) at a service station and ate some breakfast.. after that.. we made our way back on the road since the half day rates start at 12:30pm.. we got there at about 12:15pm but the lines were sorta long for rentals and lift tickets. most of us got snowboard lessons.. which was an hr long. they taught us the basics such as how to put on your snowboards.. how to get off the chair lift (with one foot free).. and how to go down the hill in two different ways.. hehehe. one of the instructors graham was helping me out going down the hill and talking hehe.. he was pretty helpful. so after the lesson was over, i practised on one of the beginner hills. i was taking my time.. trying to maintain control rather than speeding down the hill. i didnt have much trouble with my balance and speed control, but i kept steering off the the right.. towards the fence for some reason. finally, i think it was the next time down that i met up with harris again.. and he helped me figure it out. =) so i finally learned how to control my direction! yes!!

the next time down.. i was making progress hehehe. but its very tiring.. my shins were burning.. ass was starting to get sore from falling backwards and stopping. thats from the backward falls. the frontward falls bruised up my knees.. they really hurt. T__T i think i only went down the slopes a total of.. 3 or 4 times. i remember one wipe out where snow caught my snowboard and tripped me out. i fell forward and my knees killlled. it knocked the wind outta me so i lay tummy-side down on the snow for a couple of seconds. i knew that harris and dileshni probably saw me cause they were sitting on the slope behind me.. so i figured i should move before they thought i was severely hurt haha. by the end it was really getting cold and windy. my wool gloves were frozen and rock solid, while i couldnt feel my fingers anymore. besides my face and hands, i was pretty warm though.. thank goodness for the down coat i just bought from work, which has a huge fur hood that I LOVE! it was 4:30pm since the place was closing.. returned the rentals and whatnot. overall, in my opinion.. skiing was easier for me to learn. but snowboarding is fun too.. once you sorta get the hang of it and your hands dont feel like they are about to fall off!!! (smart ewen, just smart lol)

afterwards, we went to barrie to have dinner.. first it was applebee's but the wait was an hour and a half. next! swiss chalet!! the wait was apparently 45min so we decided to stay since it would be pointless to drive around on a saturday night when all restaurants would be busy anyways.. whore'd out the camera and stuff while waiting.. which didnt seem that long. dinner was very filling hehehe... i got the quarter chicken dinner with mashed potatoes. there was an appetizer special.. 2 for $8.99 so we got 6 of those for all 14 of us to share hehe.. mmm the perogies were good as usual! then me and alison shared a slice of coconut cream pie. ^____^

on the way to dinner.. (pretty sunset hehehe... with clouds and all) we were listening to one of peter's mix cds.. and playing a guessing game. i had to guess the artist of each song.. hehe and we continued this game after dinner, on the ride home. final score? i got 13 out of 16 songs correct! YES~ I WIN HEHEHEHE. that was really fun hehehe.. and the songs bring back such memories from back in the day.. high school. i was even singing in the car ahhha.. which is rareeeee. the acoustics of songs are always so awesome in the car. *heart* i think out of the entire day/trip, these memories will be most treasured. the full moon was a really beautiful sight as well............ <3
