I also forgot -- fall is squash season and I love squash. I like butternut squash so much, I sometimes eat it plain. I love all kinds of squash, though. I don't waste any of it but the skin -- I even clean and salt the seeds and then toast them in the oven. Om nom nom nom.
You guys like squash?

Mmmm, squash. I love it too - sometimes with butter and sugar and cinnamon, sometimes in pasta... I have a delicata in the fridge that I need to decide what to do with. I also bought sugar pumpkins at Sauvie Island yesterday so I'll probably make pie out of them.

You know, I never think of squash as a dessert (other than in pie). I should try it with sugar and spice, I bet I'd like it. And with pasta, ooh!

(I have a mild food obsession.)

Yeah, I just cook the first little while with the halves upside-down in water, and then I turn them up so they're like little bowls and put butter and sugar inside and bake them awhile longer so it all seeps in. Mmm.

I've always wanted to try the squash that when you take it out of the rind, it comes out in strands like pasta. I've had some awesome acorn squash roasted with bison before, nummy nummy nummy.

Spaghetti squash is really yummy. I like to cut them in half and bake them until they're soft, and then take a fork and scrape them into strands and then mix chunks of onion and tomato and a little soy cheese into the strands and eat them straight out of the rind.

Squash is my absolute favourite vegetable. I love it baked, in soups, in risotto, in chili, mashed and sauteed with caramelized onions and curry powder, in pies, etc...

Are you going to post some recipes for squash?

I love me some squash. Not so much turnips (is that considered a squash, or a tuber, or what?), but just about every kind of squash.

Butternut is probably my favourite, especially in soup. And have you tried spaghetti squash? Tasty AND fun!

My favourite Thai restaurant has the most amazing Pumpkin Coconut Curry Soup. I keep trying to scam the recipe, but oddly enough, whenever I ask, the servers forget how to speak English. Hrm.
