Of one of the fandoms that I'm following currently, I like Sword Art Online. I really do. Even the anime, abrupt as it is - but the manga is even more abrupt, so there's that. I even like Kirito and Asuna. I really do.

Yeah, I figured the original light novels would be the best, but even in basic personality I didn't really like them together. I also read the manga first...and I like the anime better. If people call the anime rather abrupt and lacking in development, the manga is about 38734098745 times worse. It's pretty bad. At least in the anime there were minor hints beforehand for the romance...the manga it literally came out of fucking nowhere. Like within one chapter Asuna was introduced and they're suddenly madly in love ( ... )
