[Shopping at the mall really shouldn't be this painful. Really. Johnny just wanted to buy some cards for his friend's birthday. You walk in, find the card store, find the cards, and get the heck outta there before anyone else notices

[Toothless had followed the scent of fish and the flashy new sights, some how winding up in this odd human shelter. This place makes flying all the more difficult, but...unfortunately Hiccup is nowhere to be found. The night fury has taken to sniffing and scanning for any signs of his friend, but to no avail.]

[These...strange somethings have taken over the path, and they're slightly too tall to leap over. Toothless watches them pass with a twisted expression of confusion plastered on his face. What weird new invention was this?]

[Only one way to find out: Exploration! Incoming dragon onto the float nearest Johnny! Once he manages to get his bearings on the colorful moving thing, he spots the human boy and gives him one of those looks. Explanation, please.]

[Oh God, his dragon - can he even call Toothless his? - has made an appearance on the floats. Amidst the scantily-clad women tossing beads to poor passersby. What're they going to say? Please don't kick them out. Johnny can't handle that.

... Except they don't do anything. Huh. Johnny's lineface becomes even more dramatic as he climbs onto the float.] Aw jeez... how'd you even get here?

[he sighs, leaning in to whisper in Toothless's ear:] It's Mardi Gras floats. People're just excited and celebrating... drunkenness. I guess.

[This confused face continues. People are weird. Amusing enough to redeem themselves, but weird nonetheless. He seems to have calmed down enough to maybe be herded away from the center of festivities, though the occasional bling or sudden movement catches his eye.]

[A-ha! Don't mind Johnny taking some beads from the ladies - he mouths his thanks as he does so - and placing them around Toothless's neck.] Come on. I'll get you some nice fish and we'll ignore the festivities as well as we can.

[this's more to himself as he jumps off:] They're also twenty-four hours late to the party, but they don't seem to care.
