Well, I haven't updated in forever.
In late November (the early hours of the 28th to be exact) I threw up for the first time since I was 14 - that's a 9-year gap, people, which I had hoped to last way, waaaaaay longer. I haven't been that sick in ages- not just the puking, but I couldn't control my body temperature at all. I had constant diarhea, a fever that lasted most of three days that I basically Tylenol-ed to death and slept through whenever possible. I actually fell over into the wall one of those days 'cause I got so dizzy- I had to walk so slowly it was pathetic. Bless my father for getting up when I called him around 1am to get me an replacement trash bags. Damn my period to hell for coming the second day I was sick however. So, lots of icewater, toast, weak weak tea (utterly gross. This is coming from the person who will steep her tea for several hours and it's so strong it could peel paint off the walls), watermelon gatorade and liters of Ginger Ale. All hail Ginger Ale and whomever created it. The previous week a coworker of mine had the quick 24-hour version, and a day or two after me, one of the managers comes down with a nasty version like me. Poor dear.
I work the 29th, 1st and 2nd. I need to find a new job- my hours are turning to shit since the holidays are over- I'm only scheduled two days this week and two the next- around 13-14 each week. That means one week barely pays for my montly bus pass.
Oh, get this. I needed bread and sugar on Christmas Eve. So I get to the store just before 2pm- and it's scheduled to be open until 5. Well, they lost power right as I was going down the cereal isle towards the frozen section 'cause I wanted to see if they had any ice pops. You could only pay in cash- I didn't have enough, so I went to the bank to use the ATM. Well, the whole shopping center lost power from Dunkin Donuts/Commerce Bank/Burger King to the grocer's to 7-11 down the street. I was able to withdrawl money from my account IN the bank, so I hopped the bus to the other end of town and hoped the little market there was open- it was and boy was it packed. I got my bread, sugar, cheese tortellini since I didn't feel like cooking and I was hoping my *house* had power.. and two other things that are failing my memory. I did my cookies that night. But it was just funny in a horrible way. Several RENT songs were running through my brain.
Both Amanda and Marty got engaged on Christmas, it seems. They're siblings I went to high school with. I was friends with both, first with Marty my freshman year, then someone tried to set us up that or the next year but neither of us were really interested. Then I became pretty close to Amanda our senior year. Neither of them reads this, but congrats anyways. I think Erin's the only h.s. friend of mine that knows where I am and how to get ahold of me besides Tom. I haven't talked to Amanda, Lenka, Pam (though 'friend' status is rather not on her, even though she was my best friend for the better part of 6 years) in years. I've seen Tom, Erin, and Josh all in the past 18 months, I think. I moved, and most of them went to college, lost track. I spoke to Marla online ages ago, and I know she's practically engaged and Christina got married.
I haven't gone to sleep yet, so methinks I will now- both my eyes and upper back are complaining. Night all, and a Happy New Year (sung RENT-style).
