Character's Name: Oruha
Series: CLOVER
Timeline: Just moments before her death.
Canon Resource Link: When Oruha was nine years of age the government began it's Clover Leaf Project. It organized a nation wide search for children who had special abilities and could use magic. They dubbed these children "Clovers" and implemented a ranking system for them. The children with the weakest powers were labeled One-leaf while those with the strongest were labeled Four-leaf. The goal of this project was so the government could capture and contain the Three and Four-leaf Clovers so that they could not use their abilities recklessly. Oruha was one of many children brought in for tests and experiments. After many trials the only ability they discovered in her was the ability to predict her own death. Thus they deemed her as a One-leaf for this power and sent her back home.
However Oruha was devastated with the knowledge of when she was going to die. The power sent her into a deep depression and she stopped living life. She found it pointless to continue on and make connections with people if she was just going to die in the end anyway. Caught in her despair Oruha determined there was really no point in doing anything. Then Oruha discovered singing and her viewpoint changed drastically. She began to write her songs and fell in love more and more with music. She started to sing at clubs and bars, gaining nothing but positive feedback for her beautiful voice and lyrics. When she was approached by the owner of a particularly popular club offering her a spot to sing there, she accepted without hesitation.
Her first performance was a huge hit and Oruha finally realized that this was a life worth living. She was happy this way and despite knowing how it would end, she could still live. Eventually she met a man named Ryuu F. Kazuhiko at this prestigious club. After three months she finally agreed to be his girlfriend and for the first time she felt true joy. She had found her happiness with Kazuhiko and in her singing. Yet because of it she began to fear even more for her impending death and thus losing all that she had gained. Even still she pressed onward.
One day she gets a call from a mysterious little girl named Suu. Suu tells Oruha that she's a big fan of her songs and wants to listen to them all the time. Eventually the two start talking to each other all the time, though always over the phone. They learn about one another and for the first time Oruha opens up about her feelings. The two quickly become fast friends, making the eternally lonely Suu very happy. They end up writing a song together that they call CLOVER. On the night of her birthday Oruha tells Suu the truth about her fate and that this was the night she was fated to die. She bids farewell to her newest friend and gets on stage even as Suu begs her not to. She dedicates her final song to her "two most important people" and begins to sing. As the song ends, a sniper shoots her through the chest and kills her instantly.
Personality: Oruha is a very cheerful and kind person on the outside. She greets everything she faces with a smile and an optimistic attitude. It always seems that nothing in the world can bring her down. Yet on the inside, the part of her that is rarely seen, Oruha hides a deep sadness. Her heart is constantly in pain because she knows that she will very soon have to leave everything behind. Yet despite that Oruha tries her best to live above the knowledge that constantly plaques her. Even knowing exactly when she will die doesn't stop her to live life to the very fullest. Nothing stops her from having fun, not even her powers. Oruha is a bit of a shameless flirt. Or rather, she's just shameless in general. She enjoys making Kazuhiko jealous by flirting with his friend or wearing suggestive outfits on stage. However Oruha's heart belongs only to Kazuhiko and no one else. She loves him deeply and with all her might though she is saddened knowing she will have to part with him. She often expresses her wish to stay with him forever.
Her passion is in her music and song writing. She absolutely loves singing just about as much as she loves Kazuhiko. Oruha writes all the lyrics to her songs and preforms them with true passion. Her drive to be a fantastic singer has started to slowly raise her stardom. Although willing to spend her time with others, Oruha does not open up to anyone. Everything she feels is carefully veiled behind her smile. She does not want others to see her inner sorrow, possibly because she doesn't want to burden them. Instead she wants them to be happy and enjoy their time alive. Her power as a one-leaf also hurts her relationships with people. Befriending them makes her feel extremely guilty knowing she'll hurt them in the end with her death. Additionally her habit of bottling up all her feelings is unhealthy. She never lets anyone really know her, not even Kazuhiko. Suu was the first and only person she truly opened up to.
Oruha can be described as a typical girlie girl as she likes everything from flowers to birds to fancy clothes. Though something she doesn't particularly enjoy and is actually rather afraid of is to be left alone. Being happy, having love and surrounded by people is what Oruha loves most. She is a fairly laid back person otherwise, going with the flow and not one to be easily provoked emotionally. She hardly ever gets angry and is quite easy to get along with. Though she can occasionally seem vain about her talents and her gorgeous appearance, it never gets in the way of her interactions with people. Yet with every interaction there is a distinct and purposeful detachment that is the obvious the more one interacts with her.
What your character can offer: Her only power as a one-leaf is the ability to know exactly when she is going to die. Otherwise, she is a normal human being gifted with an extremely beautiful voice. Oruha is considered very talented in that regards but she is also seen as an amazingly beautiful woman. Her face and her body are very ideal, which is a strength as much as it is a weakness. Otherwise Oruha is a normal human. All she can do in the face of danger is flee as she has no fighting abilities to speak of.
What items will they be bringing with them? Nothing but what she's wearing and the microphone she was using to sing at the time.
Third-Person Sample: When Oruha woke up that morning she felt nothing. She wasn't afraid, she wasn't sad, she wasn't angry... she wasn't anything. As she lay in her bed alone, staring at the white ceiling of her room, Oruha refused to let herself feel anything. She climbed out of bed and moved robot-like to the shower. She started her daily routine like it was an ordinary day. Yet she knew better. Try and she might to fool herself she could not. When she stepped from the shower and peered at her pretty reflection in the mirror she saw tears running from her eyes. This startled her for she had no idea she had been crying. Oruha smiled at her teary eyed reflection.
"Don't cry," She told it sadly. "I have to smile. For him. And for her."
The phone rang. Oruha stood motionless in front of the mirror, unable to move. She listened to it ring and her hands tightened their grip on the sink. Then abruptly she turned and bolted for the phone. She nearly lost her towel scrambling to retrieve it.
"Happy birthday."
Kazuhiko.
Ourha smiled and felt more tears spill down her face but she kept her voice perfectly even. "Calling me already, hm?"
"Of course. I can't wait to see you tonight."
"Me neither, Kazuhiko." Please be the last face I see before I die.
Ourha exchanged a few more words with him before she hung up. She stood still with her hand on the phone for a long time, head bowed and long black hair spilling over her shoulder. She watched the ends drip water at her feet.
"I'm sorry," She said quietly. "I hope you can forgive me, Kazuhiko."
She felt guilty, having allowed him to love her and having allowed herself to love him in return. And yet the more she thought about it the happier it made her. She had loved him so much and had experienced being loved so much in return. Today was her last day alive but at least she could say she had been happy.
First-Person Sample: You know, I wish I could meet Suu. That seems so abrupt! I was thinking about it the other day while I sang. It would make me happy to be able to stand on stage beside her and sing a song. I still haven't mentioned her to Kazuhiko. I'm not sure I will. It'll be a woman's secret~! [She giggles quietly.]
Ah, but you know... I feel terrible for her. To be alone all that time... I can't imagine it. She says she's use to it but I just don't know.
More than anything I wish for her happiness. Is that foolish? When I see a shooting star I don't want to wish for me. I'm already so happy with Kazuhiko. Suu... I hope you can find the same happiness I have found with him.
