Back when I was in high school, I suffered through many nights of too much homework. One of the classes to consistently give me the most homework was Spanish, and I used to complain about this quite a bit ( Read more... )

I want to learn Italian, too! Even though I failed out of Japanese the time I took a class in it, I think it was still a valuable experience.

I bet you wouldn't fail out of Japanese if you had a better teacher!

Suzanna, I thought of you this weekend! I was showing a friend of a friend around the City this weekend, doing this "tour guide" thing that I like to do. This friend of my friend is Greek, and I didn't know that before. He was showing me his Greek passport, and it was really cool! Many beautiful images of Greece from throughout history, basically going in chronological order as you flip forward though the passport pages. I think you would have like it!

I was almost as impressed with your mad elite Español skills as I was with your mad elite chemistry skills when I first met you.

To this day, I like to tell people that my Spanish experience in college greatly benefitted from the fact that two of my best friends in college were white boys who were also rather fluent in Spanish.
