Awww! I always cry at the finales of shows I love, even if they're less than great. I know how it feels to really *care* about characters, and then for them to not get a happy ending. Not that a happy ending would always be appropriate to the story, but...still difficult. *big hug*

Isn't that the thing, though, with finales. Even with a great finale, you are always just a little bit disappointed that your journey together is over.

With Xena's finale, the plot of the episode starts to break down within the first couple of minutes of a two part episode; however, the emotional strings that they play with throughout the episode just puts you in a state where it hurts so bad you want to cry but you can't. Which, in a way, is a reflection of the show's m.o. when they decided to be serious.

Aww! I'm sorry it's over. That was some finale, wasn't it? Like you I wasn't angry or disappointed with it even though I lost one of my favorite characters ever (Xena was always my favorite) but the finale felt . . . true to the characters and what more can you ask than that?

The plot of the finale really didn't do anything for me, but the emotional aspects of it just blew me away. When Xena teaches Gabrielle the pinch, I just nearly died from the SQUEE!/ANGST combo!

I'm in that weird place of wanting to forget that the finale happened (only because I want my happy ending dammit) and accepting that while the finale just hurts, Xena dying for a greater good was the fitting. [Of course, if she was going to stay dead, I wish that it was for a crime that she really committed.]

It is sort of like I'm not sure that I could trade the pinch, the kiss, or any of their other emotional moments in FIN for an ending like "When Fates Collide" or "Many Happy Returns." Of course, as far as happy endings go, I don't think that you could top them riding off on Argo Jr. or flying off after that poem.
