I guess I should have mentioned you'd get presents. You get them because your friends want to make you happy, like you're trying to make them happy.

But Hideki, Chi is happy when Chi's friends are happy. Why would Chi need presents to make Chi happy when Chi is already happy?

Well, Chi, it's something like this. You're happy because your friends are happy, but they want to make you even happier by giving you gifts. Does that make sense?
