Nagi watched the shop owner walk into the back with the doll she had brought to be fixed. Once he was behind the doors the girl turned to face the doll sitting on the shelf behind the counter curiously. She walked over to him again, but this time linked her hands behind her back. Nagi looked around cautiously for a moment, checking for people that may be around.
"You've been the one speaking haven't you?" She asked quietly once she was sure no one was there. For a moment there was nothing, and the purple eyed girl was starting to wonder if she had been imagining things.
Then there was a chuckle, "Kufufu, so the little one can hear me after all." Said the smooth voice she had heard the last few times she was in the store.
Nagi looked around again, and then moved even closer to the counter between her, and the doll. She frowned slightly as she spoke again, "No one else can hear you?"
"Just that old man, and now you little one." The doll replied smoothly. Nagi blinked at the doll, and leaned on the counter. She wanted to take him down off that shelf because it was odd talking to something that was so far away, though she could hear him as well as if he were sitting on the counter. Doing that would get her into trouble though, because the old man had said that the doll had to stay on his shelf.
"Uhm, do you... have a name?" Nagi asked shyly.
--- --- ---
The shop owner hadn't moved away from the door to the back of his shop when he heard Nagi speak. It only took the old man a moment to figure out who she was speaking to. The girl's voice was soft, but the door was not thick so the man could still hear what she said. He wasn't surprised that she had asked if Mukuro had been the one speaking. The shop owner had thought that the girl was hearing him when she came in, mostly because she came in more often now then she usually did.
Nagi could use a flame, he had seen it when she came in for her birthday. She had a mist flame, the same type that the forbidden doll Rokudo Mukuro had. The shop owner highly doubted that Nagi knew that she could use her flame of life to become a doll master, but the ability was there. There were a few times in the past few weeks that the old man had thought the girl had accidentally bound the forbidden doll to her as a companion on her birthday, he had been suspiciously quiet since then when she wasn't in the store. Each time he dismissed the thought though she had barely passed a spark of her flame, not nearly enough to make him her companion, and hadn't given him a name, or spoken his given name in this case.
"Rokudo... Mukuro?" Nagi's soft voice said slowly from the other side of the door as she tested the doll's name out. The old man frowned, the doll must have told her his name himself.
The bell letting the shop owner know someone else entered his shop rang, making the old man blink, and then sigh. Setting the doll in his hands down on a work table, he came out of the back of his shop in time to see Nagi back away from the counter quickly. The old man shuffled forwards, as he looked the men over. They didn't seem like the type to enter a doll shop normally, and there was the fact that they came in a group of three.
"Can I help you three?" The shop owner asked. The men glanced at Nagi, who seemed like she was trying to disappear, looked at Mukuro, and then at him.
"We want that doll there." One of the men said jerking his head towards Mukuro.
The old man managed to smile a bit sadly, and shake his head at them, "I'm sorry gentlemen, I can't sell that one." He said.
The three frowned at him, before one of them said, "We'll pay you any price."
Again the shop keeper shook his head, "That doll is not for sale sirs." He repeated. As he spoke he heard a whisper from Mukuro, but ignored it for the moment. He couldn't tend to these men, and that doll at the same time, and getting rid of the men was just more important at the moment.
Two of the three shifted, and the one who seemed to be the leader scowled, "Why not?" He demanded.
The shop keeper smiled up at the three, looking like a completely harmless old man. "Well that's because-"
"H-He's m-mine." Nagi said shakily. The three men, and the shop keeper all turned to look at the girl. Nagi had her hands clutched to her heart, and it looked like it was taking every ounce of her will not to flee under the four stares.
"Very good little one, now tell them again." Mukuro practically purred at the girl. The old man's eyes flicked over to the doll, and then back to Nagi as he wished he hoped he didn't hear what he just thought he did.
The shop keeper saw Nagi nod before she opened her mouth again to speak, "H-He's mine, I-I just brought Mukuro in to be repaired."
The leader of the men turned fully to face the purple eyed girl, "We will pay you well to give up that doll girl." He said.
The old man watched as the girl closed her eyes tight and shook her head no, and in turn Mukuro spoke to her again. "There's no need to be afraid of them my dear, their bark is worse then their bite." The statement almost made the old man laugh, he knew that he and Nagi stood no chance against these three. Only Rokudo Mukuro had no reason to fear them, and he was stuck as a doll who couldn't fight back.
"Come on little girl, there has to be some price you'd be willing to give him up for." The man said.
Nagi's hands clutched together tighter obviously nervous about waht she was going to say, "N-No, there's none." She replied firmly.
Mukuro chuckled, "Very good Nagi." He said obviously pleased with something.
The shop keeper looked closer at the girl's hand, and saw what the doll must have meant. A light purple haze that could only be the mist flame started to gather around the girl's hands. That was when the old man realized what the doll had been working towards. It was a gamble, but the old man was aware that it was one that had good chances of working. The shop keeper ignored Mukuro's complaint as he was not so gently grabbed down from the shelf, and then presented to the girl.
"Do be careful wth him." The old man cautioned. He watched as Nagi blinked, before nodding slowly reached to take the doll. The purple mist that begam to cover her hands soaked into the doll as soon as she touched him. The doll became covered in mist, and his shadowed form grew from the size of a doll to the tall slim form of a man, and once he was done growing the mist dispersed. The shop keeper heard Nagi squeak, and saw her blush a bright red. One of her hands that had previously taken the doll was pulled up to the lips of a very smug looking human Rokudo Mukuro as he placed a gentlemanly kiss on the back of it.
"Thank you, my dear Nagi." The man said making the girl's face turn even redder as he released her hand, and turned to the three men. "I'll deal with these three now."
