For Grandma...

I'm in New York. Yesterday I called up my dad back in Minnesota to wish him a happy thanksgiving. He tells me he had just spent the last 36 hours in the hospital with his mother/my Granny. She had surgery last weekend, and it turns out to have had no effect. Her doctor said they've done all they could and now it's only a matter of time ( Read more... )

Family death sucks. If there was anyway you could see her now, instead of at her funeral, do it! She won't really care if you are at the funeral, but I'm sure it would mean a lot to her if she could see you again before she goes. Don't count on her (or anyone for that matter) making it until Christmas, or the spring, or whenever. Always sieze the opportunity to be with someone you love right this minute. Even when someone is terminally ill, it's a shock when they actually die.
