So, thanks to my cousin Frank, I have added a sampling of various types of metal music to my library as of last weekend. I've been curious to get my hands on some for a while, but didn't really know where to start listening. (I'll admit it, it's because of Metalocalypse.)...So I think it will stay settled rather permanently on the genre list

Well, there's Mastodon; the metal fans I know seem to worship those guys. However, they're also giant potheads, so take their recommendation with a grain of salt.

As far as metal goes, I like the power metal, also called fantasy metal. Dragonforce is the most famous, but I like Kamelot and Rhapsody better. You also can't beat early Apocalyptica; their new stuff sucks, but the album Cult was beautiful.

I don't know much about Death Metal except for what I remember from baalesh's frequent rants on the subject. Evidently much of what is called Death Metal really isn't, and the touchstone for determining what is and isn't Death Metal is the music of the band "Death."

I also know of a Singaporean Vedic Death Metal band called Rudra. I'm not sure if they're good or not, but at least they're hilarious conceptually.
