My Dear, I Wanted to Tell You

So, this is the title of the audiobook I'm currently listening to, written by Louisa Young. I admit, I was tempted by shallow reasonings in that it's narrated by Dan Stevens... But I'd actually heard of it before I knew that and had been tempted to read it! Anyway, I have a tedious commute and so I figured actually, it'd be great to listen to a ( Read more... )

:pretends she totally didn't just come from Amazon to see if they sell this in the U.S. (they do not!):

Wow, that sounds like a great book, and she definitely seems like an amazing writer. :D That's such an evocative passage about being newlyweds -- the idea of "they did things that neither of them had ever thought of, things that made them blush"...it conveys the meaning perfectly, but in such an innocent tone. Love that! :)

Think Hugh Grant in Four Weddings and a Funeral. Dan Stevens has exactly the same quality - he says "f**k* in just the most delightful way

Ha, can I tell you when we finished DA, and I was still sort of processing it, I thought DS had sort of a Hugh Grant thing going on (though DS is much more emotionally intense, IMO). :) Now I don't feel so silly for thinking that! :D

I'm so jealous of you, but you'll have to keep us updated on the book as it progresses! Also, it's nice to see a positive review -- at least other people (other than us fangirls!) are recognizing he's talented, so YAY! :D

After he appeared in Sense and Sensibility one reviewer, affectionately I think, referred to Dan Stevens as 'the muppet baby incarnation of Hugh Grant'. Hilarious and very cute. There's no comparison as far as acting ability though; most of Hugh Grant's roles are 'Hugh Grant' though I have enjouyed him in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones's Diary and About a Boy.

And I LOVED chapter 4 of All That Is Left and am very much looking forward to Ch 5, which hopefully continues its rating into Ch 5 (I think I may be becoming a smut glutton *blush*). And I do hope you continue the story so we can see the reaction of Mary's family. I hope the story continues long after that too; you plot and write so well. Such fun!

I just rushed to Audible.com and then to Amazon to see if this audiobook is available in the U.S. Alas, no dice. So then I went to my favorite audiobook torrent site (more international in flavor) and it's not there either. Sigh. I guess I won't get to hear Dan say "f**k." ;)
