Comes with the territory

I don't know what is about clients in the software development world, but they seem to have a great knack for making things seem very simple right up until the point where you say "that will take about two weeks of work", before suddenly coming up with "oh, and we also need..." as if you can somehow squeeze all this extra stuff into the original ( Read more... )

These are "normal" people though... that might freak them out a little too much. "Normal" people don't see the humour in stabby-stabby-death, for some reason. Besides, I never could pull off that "is he serious?" grin that you do so well.

On the whole, Polly, you are a trusted and valued friend. Nevertheless, there are times when I want to slap you repeatedly about the head with a trout. It is entirely possible that this is one of them.

DO NOT MOCK BOB DYLAN.

Seriously- I have a couple of albums on vinyl and they are terrible. One long dirge and not in a good way. I will continue to fight both you and Jenny's boyfriend who has actually been to see him. I am a staunch anti bobber- cannot name anything by him that I like or that at least isn't done far better by someone else as a cover. Sorry.

Which albums do you have, out of interest?

I can understand that you wouldn't like his political songs, and your patience would very easily wear thin at the longer songs like Desolation Row, but I would have thought that some of the more bile-filled sneery songs like Idiot Wind and Like A Rolling Stone would be right up your street when you get going. And what about Subterranean Homesick Blues, which has got to be considered a major influence on R.E.M.'s It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine). It's a fantastic song, though perhaps the harmonica would put you off.

I reckon you've probably just not listened to enough... though I think getting you to listen would be too tiring a fight, even if I did have any chance at succeeding.
