I am just so impressed by Jesus of Nazareth. It is really a book that I would recommend for any Christian, Protestant or Catholic or Orthodox or whomever. Pope Benedict is just so thorough about Christ's mission on Earth and explains it in an academic, yet easy to understand and interesting way. It's not dry reading at all. I loved Benedict even before reading it, but that took my admiration to a whole new level. Volume two is equally profound. Volume one's exposition on the beatitudes was beautiful.

My favourite part was definitely when the Pope recounts Rabbi Jacob Neusner's critical reading of the Jesus of the Gospels. It's astounding. =)

I brimmed over that. I need to go over it again, slowly! I want to read the Rabbi's reasoning for Jesus not being the Son of God, and the Pope's critique of that reasoning.
