Thats the thing with any car. It is bound to have problems with any one you get, newer or the current one you have. Its just what you have to deal with.

I suggest you look for a newer car, because it will be more fuel efficient..

But I don't know much about cars, thats just what I'd do.

I'd be looking for a new car personally, once the head gasket's gone, that's bad news. The good news is that newer cars = better quality and most importantly, better fuel economy unless you pick up some 8 cylinder fuel guzzler, but fuck that in todays environment.
