Snoozin’ again

For those of you following the continuing saga of the sleepytiger, I got my report when I got to the 2nd sleep study where they attached a mask to my nose and pumped air into my face. Here are the highlights from the report:

Yeah, 80ish is certainly substantial. (I had 120ish. Breathing? Pfft.)

Don't be afraid to shop around a bit on what mask to stick with. If your insurance is at all decent, you'll be able to replace it a couple of times a year or so without going broke, and you should do that instead of being a tool like me who lets them get really rundown, and that's always a good opportunity to go to your respiratory care place and say "let's try some different masks."

Several friends are all about the "nose pillows" style which -- well, picture's worth a thousand words: http://www.cpapman.com/hints2.htm Personally, I find them excruciating, and I wish I didn't because they'd be less hassle in a number of ways. Sigh.

Anyhow, best of luck! My CPAP hasn't made me a powerful adonis but it has made me, you know, not asphyxiate in the night. So there's that.

The one I used in the sleep center was evidently a 'nasal prong' variety, but not one that went INTO my nose by very much. Here we go. It was not ridiculously obtrusive, and served its purpose. Once it was positioned on the right side of my head (I sleep on my left side), I hardly knew it was there.

And as far as it making me a powerful Adonis, I'm mostly concerned with "powerful Adonis with regards to not falling asleep at client sites and at work."

I suspect this will do that.

Oooo, very interesting. I saw a picture of the Swift II a while back and wondered about it. Thanks for the minireview. I'll ask my resp care guy if I can check it out -- it looks like it wouldn't pull badly on my nose like the other style did.
