Even after a long soaking, my rice cooker will not fully cook dry pinto beans. I got much better results boiling them on the stove top.

True, they are not as yummy as the old fashioned kind, but when you (and by you I mean me) don't know the difference between a clove and a bulb, cooking is best left to professionals.

I'll second that.
I used to try to use dried beans. I soaked, I boiled... Nothing I did got them as soft as I wanted.
Canned beans win.
