I made an executive decision to migrate us from FolderShare to Dropbox. I'm not wild about having our data on someone else's server, but I am satisfied by their privacy / IP policy and can easily keep a backup of the local copy ( Read more... )

That's a neat looking site. Very nice interface and features. I'd be surprised if it's still free for long.

Re: online files, it should be possible to use encryption.

I know this isn't practical to use for the purpose you mention, but I use Duplicity (http://duplicity.nongnu.org/) for encrypted online backups. It'd be neat if someone took the idea and put a nice user interface on top, similar to dropbox's.

Did you look into any other similar services? Any that support Macs and work with any online service provider?

Hows about setting up an (s)ftp server for external clients to use? Internally, just share out the document root of the ftp server as NFS.
