You know, if you just don't give her the bottle, eventually if she wants the milk bad enough, she'll take it from a cup. Not the most fun thing to have to do but it might come to that at some point. Not that I've ever had to do this mind you, so I really don't know what the hell I'm talking about. You can totally ignore me if you like, really, I will understand.
At least she's not roaming around with the bottle in her mouth all the time. I agree with you on that.
Agreed. It's good she's drinking a lot of milk. But you probably should try to get her off the bottle. Try offering it only at mealtime in a sippy cup.
i bought new bigger Milk Only Sippy cups. She won't touch them.
so what do i do? not give her milk for a couple weeks? force feed her? or suck it up and let her have a bottle for a little while longer?
we're going on holidays in a couple weeks and i'm thinking with everything else being so different, we might try to lose the bottle along the way too. who knows?
(sorry if i sound defensive, it's just that i KNOW she should be off the bottle, but she's not making it easy.)
After I posted, I realized that you've probably already tried that. Your restraint in not yelling "DON'T YOU THINK I ALREADY TRIED THAT" was appreciated.
I don't know what to do. Kids at that age can be very stubborn. I know. I have one. If you try again, just ensure she's getting her nutrients through other food (cheese, yogurt) and vitamins.
It's strange when the kids sleep past 7 in our house. Of course, they are waken up by 6:30 daily to be taken to daycare, so sleeping late on the weekends isn't an option for me anymore.
don't panic -- my sister is three, and she occasionally still has a bottle at bedtime. the world has not imploded yet, so I think it might be safe.
the main arguments for weaning off a bottle seem to be: dental problems & possible ear infections if she drinks from a reclining position. Well, she's never had an ear infection in her life, and ... they're baby teeth. So what if they're not perfect? Besides, she's my mothers daughter, she's doomed to braces anyway.
funny -- for two years, she was perfectly fine drinking milk from a sippy cup. A few months ago, she decided that she was done with regular milk, and will now only drink flavored milk. She gets such a small squirt that I can't even taste it, but it makes her happy. :)
