i know this is too early to really know..but i don't think i'll get an internship for the summer..which really bums me out..i went to so much effort this past semester..i had four interviews which i tried my best..and i've already got turned down by 2 of them..what more do i have to do?? i have 3.7 cumulative GPA..i'm in like 5 honor society type ( Read more... )

hey hey... i went through the same thing the last two summers and now possibly this summer. sometimes, companies just don't see you as a right fit for them. it has nothing to do with your GPA or your involvement, or even your personality. sometimes, it just doesn't work out. if you don't get any of your 4 companies that you interviewed with, its not going to be horrible. there are thousands of other accounting firms out there. you just need to flex some muscle and look around a bit. try to network (example: see if your dad knows of anyone, maybe even something with the IRS...) and look outside what NIU is providing to you. talk to H&R Block or other companies like that, put your resume out there, look at things like monster.com or other internship websites. you gotta be aggressive sometimes. :) this is not the time for you to give up. youve got a lot of time before next summer... if it gets to april and you still dont have something, then you can start to worry. but till then, just look into other options and try to put yourself out ( ... )
