Well I found out that I can't team up with Robert in City of Heroes/Villains unless we purchase another copy of the game. We can't just create another online game account. :-( I guess I see the point - they don't want someone lending out the game to anyone and everyone to install, decreasing sales in the process. But what about people in the same ( Read more... )

That's really unfortunate. There ought to be a family discount.

So the system wouldn't let you buy a coh account without a software code, eh? Nasty.(

Do we need to know what server you play on as well? I haven't tried the whole teamup thing yet. I think they should provide some sort of family discount at least for getting the software code.

I didn't know you guys were playing a MMORPG. That way lies madness, don'tcha know? ;)

As far as I knew, every MMORPG allows the game CD to be distributed and installed for free on as many computers as you want - the account to play online is what costs the $$ every month. They WANT people installing the drug everywhere.

Can you copy the CD, or just use it to install on both computers, or download a crack? I could check bittorrent for you, if you'd like- I'm sure people are only paying for the monthly access (not the game CD also).

Yeah, I just very recently picked it up. I can limit myself and won't get carried away! :)

The CD can be installed on any computer, but it needs a different software code apparently to run a different account. Robert loaded it on his laptop and used the code that came with the copy we bought, but when I went to login, it kicked him off.

I emailed the game people and was told that another copy of the game had to be purchased (either in store or download) in order to get a code.

Game companies charge monthly fees to gamers to play online RPGs, and people pay it? I hope they make a lot of money. I'm not sure I could enjoy an rpg I had to pay to play in. Plus I've heard from friends that they suck an aweful lot of time out of a day if you get too hooked or can't stop at a certain point.

Hmmm. Thats great if thats your biggest problem! We have a copy of that game, but never actually played it. You wouldnt want to team up with him anyway. It would be better to be a villian and fight against him.
