Hero wins, although the victory was not flawless. Today's update appears to have fixed the biggest issues, though. Eagerly awaiting the Android 2.0 update.
I got a Touch Pro2 this week. I'm loving it! You're right about the WinMo underpinnings though. As long as I can stay in all the HTC/Sprint-provided stuff, it's a great experience. When naked WinMo rears its ugly head...well, it's as bad as one would expect.
I definitely like the hardware. Screen is fantastic and the keyboard is roomy and easy to use.
WinMo is still WinMo. Performance is sluggish at time for no apparent reason. Other times it works just fine. HTC gets props for (mostly) hiding the heinously dated (and ugly) WinMo UI under TouchFlo 3D. TouchFlo is pretty good. There are a few awkward or inconsistent elements, but it's certainly preferable to what WinMo provides otherwise.
