Landlords?

Does anyone here rent out apartments? I don't think I'm getting a family any time soon, so instead of getting a house for myself I'm thinking of buying a multi-family house and renting the units out. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had the experience, and can offer tips (resources, contacts, books, etc.) on getting started.

You might try contacting Melissa. She owns a house in North Carolina, and she's currently renting it out using a realtor of some sort.

I haven't done it yet myself, but my realtors help people with investment properties all over the US. They have quite a few in NC and FL themselves. capitalfinancialrealty.com if your curious.

I rented out two places for awhile. The ex has them now. If you're planning on doing it yourself, it isn't so bad, particularly if the building is well-maintained. I don't know what the laws are in your area, but you will want to familiarize yourself with both the money end of them and the landlord-tenant laws
