I've was a lurker for quite some time. I enjoyed lurking. It was good to me. Much like when I was young and stood back against the wall at a party to see where I wanted to be before I stepped forward and got to know people at all, I did the same here, with the SPN fandom. The same thing happened here that used to happen at those long ago

I agree with having things in common and utilizing friends as a form of bookmarking strategy so I can return to often loved works at my leisure. It is wonderful to know that in time, the reasons, while remaining the same, can shift to include how you determine who to accept as well. That is full of awesome.
As a mention: I would never repost the work of anyone without express written permission from the author (I don't even save things without permission - feels too much like stealing), though it is heartbreaking to think of the art lost to the vast nothing because of things like a domain expiring.
Just that thought is probably going to set off a flurry of messages when I have downtime during finals, to grab all the works I have truly fallen in love with and want to keep for all time. :) Thank you so much for your input!!

I tend to compartmentalize a good portion of my life. As a result, that translates into preferring to have a system rather than flying by the seat of my pants. Oh God. I sound like a grown up. *flails* Ick! Sorry - inner child got the better of me for a moment there.
I appreciate that you prefer random. Initially - I was, in what I read, in what I thought. As I have gotten further into the fandom, I discovered specifics that I like - and some that I really don't. Still, if the writer or artist is just that good, seems like my head makes room, if that makes sense.
I'm with you on the saving. I think that will become my personal policy - though I am still terribly likely to ask just because it feels squicky to me to grab and not ask. With that said, probably goes without saying I could not repost/share/etc. Their art is theirs, not mine to take/share without express written consent.

I appreciate your take on friend requests. When I outed myself as one of the fandom, I posted something public and had a couple of personal conversations that clarified not only what fandom but what TYPE of stuff. I did not want to squick anyone out - but I also did not want to *miss* out. Seems I have found a good balance between the two for now. Of course, I write and mess with media - but I have not yet been brave enough to post squat. I'm sure I'll get past it - eventually.
:) I love that you feel people saving your art because they love it is a good thing. I would never mean it as anything other than the utmost in flattery. I am curious though. Most prefer that their art (like icons and whatnot) be credited. How do you recommend going about giving proper credit? THAT has eluded me and I'l really like to be more comfortable with that.

That is exactly what I did with the icon I currently am using. I could find no other way to appropriately credit its creator.
Glad I was on the right track, and you're awesome for answering this newbies questions about the mundane/techie details.
I have perused a touch of ff.net. A touch. There seemed to be, well... how shall I state ... a different level of quality *and* acceptance there? I perused several sites that catered to my chosen fandom before I picked my vice. This is my vice.

Veruca is unpredictable. Except for when she wants another pony.

I love Veruka!
*hands Veruka a pony, unless she doesn't want one right now, and if that is the case, hides it in a barn for the next time the want strikes*
Hehe. Sorry. Got carried away there for a moment.
Initially, I had the same strategy - and you were one of the ones that received a request from me because I read several that I so much more than liked. :)
