So last night I got back from Maryland. I was there for the past couple of days, visiting colleges--Goucher College and McDaniel College. Both are small liberal arts schools that are good for Sociology and not very well known in the Northeast. And I believe most Admissions Departments will forgive those people if they slip a little in Senior Year, because once you've decided to accept someone, it's not worth the paperwork to reverse that decision unless they've really dropped the ball.
You, on the other hand, have a different story. You slipped a year too soon. I do believe if you show significant improvement in your first quarter this fall, whoever is reviewing your application will think ... "Hmmm, she had an off year as a Junior, but now, at least, she's making a comeback."
Now, there is such a thing as going into a panic and trying too hard. We want to avoid that, too. What you need is a deliberate approach, and what sports coaches refer to as "a sense of urgency." It's a fine line you have to walk, and it's easier said ( ... )
