Dickhead Dad
My dad is being such an asshole. He snow blowed the whole driveway today, so tonight when my mom came home and said she was going to make pathways from the stairs to each car by scraping away the slush so that it won't be a complete icy mess tomorrow, he got pissed off because he took it as her telling him he hadn't done a good enough job. On paper, she works for me, I guess ... but really, she works with me.
In the beginning, I felt kind of threatened when she started doing things on her own to make my work, work better.
Then I realized that she is my team-mate, and as such, is supposed to be "picking me up" when something I do is a little off. As I am supposed to do for her.
A lesson in politics: next time your dad starts thinking that Mom wanting to help him finish a job translates to a vote of 'no confidence,' some grown-up daughter might consider pointing out to him that maybe Mom wants to pitch in so she doesn't have to feel guilty about him doing all the work. And then, said grown-up daughter could also go out and pitch in ... homework permitting.
If you are old enough to criticize your dad, then you are old enough to step up and be the adult when the situation calls for it.
