I suppose I should have specified "Klondike," but I figured everyone would know I was talking about the particular solitaire varitant that's come standard with PCs since... forever. I had to look up solitaire while I was writing the entry to make sure my metaphors were more or less on target, and that's when I came across the name "Klondike," actually. Of course I knew there were a billion different solitaire games long before that, and I'd figured that the game I was thinking of must have had a more precise name, but I'd just never thought much about it.
In any case, the metaphor still works more or less, but Klondike is the best variant I know of to make this comparsion with. Freecell does give you a more accurate percentage of unsolvable games/lives, but it also gives you all the information, which doesn't really work as well, unless we're comparing a game to the life of an omniscient being.

Which would be interesting, I guess.
