It's 34C at 6:30 PM and still going up - and we're relatively cool compared to some places. It's too hot to go until after dark. I shall be doing yard work by torch light!

30 out of the last 39 days have been over 100 here. That's inaccurate, though, because with heat indices, I bet we got over 100 those other nine days, too. It's SWELTERING. No fun whatsoever. I'm not even walking the half mile to the store anymore.

Temperature and heat index are separate, so your numbers are accurate. It probably "felt" like over 100 those other days, but the ambient air temperature was below. Does that make it any better? Hell no. :(

The entire east of the Rockies is COOKING. New England is in the upper 90's with heat indexes 100+. Old people with no AC are dying of heat stroke in their homes. It's horrible. The people are not accustomed to these temperatures and the old houses and buildings don't have the wiring capacity to run ACs. :(
