So, we were driving north on the Pan-American towards the Ecuador border. The road is about 100 meters from the sea and as we rounded a corner... a huge whale jumped out of the water.

And I was all like, “POSSUMS, YOUR DRIVER IS A MARINE BIOLOGIST. WE’RE PULLING OVER WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!”

So we watched that for a bit.

What an AWESOME opportunity!!! Since when did SA become the hub of whale watching? If you had pulled over and waited for one, you'd have never seen one. WOOT! Maybe all that money I'm pouring into the Sea Shepherd Society is paying off!!!

well, it's not famous for it, but the whole pacific coast is the migration route. so. and colombia's coast is known as a destination to see them.

Humpbacks do that a lot there. And this population has a high percentage of white ones.

If you ever happen to be on Ecuador coast in June-August, take a boat tour to Isla de La Plata - you'll see lots of them.
