Sorry you had to take Heinze--he can be a jerk when it comes to class attendance. A similar thing happened to me last semester. I went every single day, did the reading, diligently proofread my papers since he is a grammar nut, and even participated a lot in the stupid, meaningless class discussions which were rarely on topic. Then I got the flu the night before the last class, so I didn't go and was too sick to email him about it. Since it was his honors seminar, one absence equals one full grade dropped. So I ended up with a C+ and have decided to never take him again. Hey, at least you had him for a lecture class--his seminars are worse (constantly off-topic, meaningless rambling), especially when they are for three hours in the afternoon. But aside from one person I know who was in your class, all the history majors I know think that history of american pop culture is a b.s. class.
