I looked (and felt!)like a football team had danced on me tum, and that was only after having my appendix out! No doubt she will have good days and bad days for a while.
And as for the doing as she's told and arguing... I'd be more worried if she wasn't! ;)
Keep it up! You are doing a great job. Love to you both, as ever.
May I humbly suggest the walks were a bit OTT? Maybe a potter around the estate (your garden) but not km hikes. She's just had major surgery for goodness' sake! Tell her! She has to heal and stay relaxed and lazy or she'll end up back in hospital in stict bedrest!
And don't forget she won't be allowed to drive, yet, Insurance won't cover her until Dr says so. That might not be long, but needs checking. Mine was until I could comfortably do an emergency stop. So at least until the stitches/staples come out.
she wants to do a 1km walk, she does a 1km walk. Walking is good. As long as she doesn't jar herself, I see no reason to stop her. Actually it was a very gentle potter. There are no stitches to come out. soluble sticthes sub cutaneous. Actually quite a neat seam. And no driving until I say so. I very much doubt there is any legal restriction on driving. This in North America. In common with our southern neighbour, we have a god given rght to drive. I suspect that at 2-3 weeks she will be back at wrk part time, no lifting.
Glad things are progressing. The trick, as you say, is to do what you want for as long as you want, but within reason. I hope everything continues to go along swimmingly.
Driving is a little quieter where you are, of course. Straight roads, Ninety degree bends and less traffic. Besides, my op was 12 years ago, they've come a long way in active recuperation techniques since then.
