5:10am - I roll over and stagger to the bathroom, where I tell
argh128that I want to smother myself with my own pillow, and will he consider just coming back to bed instead of going on the ride?
I blame lack of sleep. Between 9:30pm and 1:00am this morning, I achieved - at most - a light doze. At 1:00am, I sneezed six times, gave up, dosed myself with allergy meds and had a shower. At that point it was still 20 degrees C outside and warmer in the apartment. Between 1:30am and 5:10am, I woke up every hour and a half.
I tell myself I must have been about this enthused last year, but I am too tired to check.
Silent Hill: Downpour this year (because Homecoming doesn't have an 'easy' mode and I am sick of those scissor scorpions).
More as the day unfolds.
-----------
8:00am - I have reached some weird sitting room with a gramophone where the entire room seems rotatable. Checking on
argh128, he's somewhere up Niles Canyon. The chili is on the first hour of slow, rolling boil - and I am considering going out to check out local garage sales.
-----------
9:30am - An hour ago,
argh128 was at rest stop 2 eating a falafel flatbread sandwich. I have returned from the garage sales, having scored 2 Currier and Ives dinner plates - for a dollar!
----------------
1:00pm - About halfway through my day at work - the last of the media about to be thrown in to get cooked.
argh128 has emailed three times in the time gap - starting the main climb, at rest stop 3, and then at rest stop 4 twenty minutes ago.
It feels very warm here and I'm pretty tired... and I can only imagine how he feels at this point.
-------------------
2:50pm - An hour ago,
argh128 was at rest stop 5. He's on the home stretch and so am I - one last set of readings, the afternoon temperature check, and entering the data and I can go home. It will be interesting to see which of us will get there first.
Currently, I'm betting it will be him.
-----------------
4:00pm - as of fifteen minutes ago, he was at rest stop 6. I'm about to head home.
--------------
5:00pm - no emails, but through the magic of apps I can see that he's 8 miles from home. (And fighting the wind, if my drive home was anything to base a guess on.) With only 8 miles to go, I am iffy on starting Silent Hill again.
